Past songs have consisted of more marketable pop tunes, but many transitions over the past year have led to a desire to return to her roots — a simple piano and a moving voice. "It's more true to who I am as an artist...this is a compilation of relationships with people and about a spiritual journey," she said.

Ruut spent some time in a studio in L.A. writing song after song on a grand piano. Titled "The Steinway Session," the album features 11 almost acoustic songs, six of which are brand new. The project will also be Ruut's first full-length album released in the U.S."It's my most personal songwriting," she said.
